"From Fleece to Loom", Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw

From Fleece to Loom, at Oriel Plas Glyn-y-Weddw - An exhibition paying special attention to the history of the wool industry in Llŷn. It is also an opportunity to bring together the work of 12 contemporary artists from all parts of Wales who either weave or use textiles in their work.

To accompany the exhibition, a new book by the historian Glyn Roberts, 'Melinau Llŷn' will be launched. The book is a collection of a series of articles that are the fruit of his incredibly thorough research into the history of the corn and woollen mills in the area. It is published jointly between Plas Glyn-y-Weddw and Gwasg Carreg Gwalch.

A collection of blankets and shawls produced in woollen factories such as Penycaerau, Edern, Nanhoron and Pwllheli on loan from local families will also be displayed alongside relics related to the industry.

The contemporary artists who work with wool will display their work as part of the exhibition include Llio James, Laura Thomas, Elin Huws, Anna Pritchard, Cathryn Gwynn, Nerys Jones, Haf Weighton, Steve Attwood Wright, Julie Roberts, Eirian Muse, Meisian and Helen Jones

The exhibition will run until March 17th.
