Portraits by Martin Parr, 2008

Back in 2008, I received a phone call out of the blue from someone at The Guardian saying they were doing a feature about Cardiff culture and they'd like to arrange for a photographer to visit me. That photographer was Martin Parr: to say that I was starstruck/nervous would be quite an understatement as I'd been such an admirer of his work for many years. The article didn't make it to press and for some reason, I never thought to ask to see the photographs. Anyway, a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of introducing Martin Parr as part of the college-wide Visiting Lecturer Programme for Carmarthen School of Art and so I asked about the pictures, and indeed he could remember taking them and which year it was. Am over the moon to now have digital copies of these photographs - back in the blonder days when I was at the Douglas Buildings in Cardiff Bay.
