Pattern, Line, Form: a free online discussion 2nd March

To celebrate the exhibition ‘Pattern, Line, Form’ at the Makers Guild Wales, join us on Zoom on the 2nd March 12-1pm to meet the Queen Elizabeth Scholarship Trust (QEST), glean insight into the physical show and enjoy a discussion with three of the exhibiting QEST Scholars.

What are the roles and relationships of pattern, line and form in the creation of the featured works, and the way the pieces in the show communicate with one another? To what extent do the makers impose rules of pattern, line and form on their works, or to what extent are these principals dictated by the materials? What other factors, such as experiences and training, influence these sensibilities?

Register here for this free event, and read more about our panellists below.

Nico Conti, Ceramics & 3D Printing

Nico champions both tradition and technology, 3D printing porcelain to create elegant ceramic forms influenced by lace and filigree. He has recently been developing clay compatible with 3D printing at Nantgarw China Works, supported by a QEST Winch Design Scholarship.

Yeena Yoon, Jewellery Design

Trained-architect-turned-jeweller Yeena creates fine jewellery which fuses her understanding of architecture and passion for meaningful design. She further enhanced her skills in two key crafts: advanced gemstone carving and fine wirework in gold, with support of a QEST William Parker Scholarship.

Philip Walker, Wood Sculpture

Former arborist Philip creates sculptures in wood, highlighting the beauty of natural features and organic lines. A QEST Carpenters’ Company Scholarship supported training alongside renowned wood sculptor Alison Crowther.
