Portraits by Martin Parr, 2008

Back in 2008, I received a phone call out of the blue from someone at The Guardian saying they were doing a feature about Cardiff culture and they'd like to arrange for a photographer to visit me. That photographer was Martin Parr: to say that I was starstruck/nervous would be quite an understatement as I'd been such an admirer of his work for many years. The article didn't make it to press and for some reason, I never thought to ask to see the photographs. Anyway, a few weeks ago I had the pleasure of introducing Martin Parr as part of the college-wide Visiting Lecturer Programme for Carmarthen School of Art and so I asked about the pictures, and indeed he could remember taking them and which year it was. Am over the moon to now have digital copies of these photographs - back in the blonder days when I was at the Douglas Buildings in Cardiff Bay. Huge thanks to Martin Parr and Mike Hale at the Martin Parr Foundation for finding the photographs and allowing me to share them. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
